In June, Chancellor Charles W. Sorensen approved UW-Stout’s participation in the Return to Wisconsin program effective fall 2012. The program offers a 25 percent tuition discount to nonresident students choosing to attend UW-Stout whose parents, grandparents or legal guardians are UW-Stout alumni.
Data from 2009-10 show that the university attracts students from almost all 50 states. Outside of Wisconsin, the top three are Minnesota, Illinois and Michigan. With the program, the university hopes to bring in more out-of-state students and give children of alumni the opportunity to carry on the family tradition and join the ranks of UW-Stout graduates. Students who live in Minnesota and are eligible for reciprocity tuition rates will not qualify for this discount.
