Menomonie, Wis. --- The following memo was sent today to UW-Stout students, faculty and staff:
FROM: Charles W. Sorensen
DATE: Oct. 13, 2010
SUBJECT: Actions based on violations of the UW-Stout Student-Athlete Code of Conduct
We are writing to inform the campus that based on a review of the UW-Stout Student-Athlete Code of Conduct, we are taking action against individual UW-Stout hockey players who were present in the Log Jam tavern the night of Sept. 18.
Two of these, Jedidiah McGlasson and Jared Britton, have been charged with assault and felony murder, both as party to the crime, in Bradley Simonís death. Britton and McGlasson will not play for UW-Stout this year and will not be eligible for reinstatement to the hockey team.
Eight others have been informed that they will not be eligible to play for UW-Stout this year. They will be eligible for reinstatement at the end of that period, if approved by Athletic Department officials and the Dean of Students.
These actions were based on violations of the provisions of the Student-Athlete Code of Conduct. It contains specific guidelines for behavior, both on and off the field, including actions while engaging in high risk alcohol use.
